چکیده

Since survival time is a quantitative variable, why can’t we just use the usual techniques from Table I? Before we explain the main reason why we use survival analysis, let’ us consider a simple example on the survival times (in months) for 25 lung cancer patients who all died; the timings are : 1, 5, 6, 6, 9, 10, 10, 10, 12, 12, 12, 12, 12, 13, 15, 16, 20, 24, 24, 27, 32, 34, 36, 36, 44 months. Performing a simple descriptive, we have n = 25, mean (sd) = 17.52 (11.48) months and median = 12 months.

High-dimensional, massive sample-size Cox proportional hazards regression for survival analysis.

Survival analysis endures as an old, yet active research field with applications that spread across many domains. Continuing improvements in data acquisition techniques pose constant challenges in applying existing survival analysis methods to these emerging data sets. In this paper, we present tools for fitting regularized Cox survival analysis models on high-dimensional, massive sample-size (...

KRP-203, a novel synthetic immunosuppressant, prolongs graft survival and attenuates chronic rejection in rat skin and heart allografts.

BACKGROUND A novel immunomodulator, KRP-203, the molecular structure of which has some similarity to FTY720, has been developed for use in organ transplantation. The present study was designed to investigate the potency and safety of KRP-203 on allograft survival against both acute and chronic rejection in rat skin and heart transplantation. METHODS AND RESULTS KRP-203 significantly prolonged...

miR-203 as a novel biomarker for the diagnosis and prognosis of colorectal cancer: a systematic review and meta-analysis

We sought to systematically evaluate the diagnostic and prognostic value of miR-203 in patients with colorectal cancer. To explore the diagnostic performance of miR-203, eligible studies were identified from biomedical databases. Based on these results, 11 studies were pooled and included in this meta-analysis. The pooled sensitivity, specificity, and diagnostic odds ratios of miR-203 were 0.83...

Nonparametric Bayesian inference for mean residual life functions in survival analysis.

Modeling and inference for survival analysis problems typically revolves around different functions related to the survival distribution. Here, we focus on the mean residual life (MRL) function, which provides the expected remaining lifetime given that a subject has survived (i.e. is event-free) up to a particular time. This function is of direct interest in reliability, medical, and actuarial ...

Analysis of survival data with cross-effects of survival functions.

We present a model and semiparametric estimation procedures for analysis of survival data with cross-effects (CE) of survival functions. Finite sample properties of the estimators are analyzed by simulation. A goodness-of-fit test for the proportional hazards model against the CE model is proposed. The well known data concerning effects of chemotherapy and radiotherapy on the survival times of ...
